Do You Have a Guilty Pleasure?

This shirt is definitely not my best color, though it does fit within the warm autumn color palette. I wear it because I love the way it feels, and the way it flows and drapes. It is great for getting dressed in a minute to head to the store! I wish I had five more just like it, in colors that were better for me.

April Goals: Nothing, Nothing and Almost Nothing! (sort of)

Still sick, so I didn't even try to do anything with the ecourse. Still being conservative about shopping but probably only because I really can't afford to buy anything this month. I have been hanging out with my son, but not enough (just ask him!)


I did find out this week what was wrong (yep, I finally went to the doctor, after a month of stubbornness.) and hopefully, now that I know, and am taking meds, will feel better soon. So success for this month? Meh.

But next month will be better and you may see some of these goals again.

How did you guys do?


(1) Creating a new color analysis ecourse: Because of some other things that are coming up, I need to get this done this month! So one change I'm going to make is to post here only on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays. I'm excited about it, but a bit overwhelmed, too!

(2) Shopping diet: this month's health project has to do with my budget. I'm saving up for something and am really wanting to avoid anything extraneous!

(3) Spending time with my son: sometimes work wins out more often than I intend, and I want to make a concentrated effort to make sure I spend quality time with him beyond homeschooling and on weekends.

What's Your Favorite Color?

It was overcast the day I took this first picture and for some reason my pics have been coming out blurry at times. Thank goodness, it doesn't happen every time, but I don't know, do my hands shake that much?

This jacket is another piece I decided I would wear as early in the season as possible because once it gets really hot, I won't see it again until fall! I love it, though. It's one of the first things I bought when I realized I was a warm autumn.

But I love almost every shade of orange or red-orange that I own. What's your favorite color? Do you wear it a lot?

April Goals: Hope Your Week Was Better than Mine!

Here's my news: I am still sick! I think it's been about three weeks now and I have been thinking about going to a doctor. So I have not done much toward my goals. I haven't shopped (always a minor miracle!), but the other ones require more time and wellbeing than I have had. I have spent some time with my son, of course, but not like I had planned because I just haven't felt well. Let's hope next week will be better!!

I got sick a couple of weeks ago, and am still mending. So I did absolutely nothing on this goal at all.


(2) Shopping diet: this month's health project has to do with my budget. I'm saving up for something and am really wanting to avoid anything extraneous!

Well,so far, so good with my shopping diet. I already bought the thing I was saving for (a fashion feng shui training course I am quite excited about that starts next month) so this is a leaner month than usual.

(3) Spending time with my son: sometimes work wins out more often than I intend, and I want to make a concentrated effort to make sure I spend quality time with him beyond homeschooling and on weekends.

Getting sick threw a little bit of a monkey wrench into this one, but we're not doing so bad. And next week will be even better!

ABOUT ME

Homeschooling Mom...

I am kind of a crunchy granola kind of mom, although there are times when you would never know it, like the days when I just cannot imagine cooking a meal and head for the nearby golden-arches fast food place. When possible, however, we eat natural and organic.

We use a Waldorf-inspired homeschooling plan, though I am cheating this year by not planning the whole year in advance. I have homeschooled my son since the preschool and kindergarten years.

Last year, I published The Capsule Wardrobe Book: Signature Style Essentials for Plus-Size Fashionistas. This year, I plan to create a do-it-yourself seasonal color analysis kit. And all year long, I am a personal style blogger here and at the blog I created for warm/true autumns.

Certified 12-Season Color Analyst...

I don't think that seasonal color analysis is easy for anyone, but I think it has often been more complicated for women of color, so I created this blog to help other women of color find information that might help them determine their seasons. One of the reasons I became certified as a color analyst was so that I could help by doing virtual color analysis if they need it.

What I Wore: the Easter Edition

So... about Easter....

As many of you know, I spent a whole month trying to make sure I didn't replicate last year's disastrous Easter outfit! And you guys were so encouraging as I tried to figure out if it was just the color that went terribly wrong or if the style needed tweaking as well.

One thing that became clear was that my chosen dress was a perfect color, but it needed to be hemmed. And the cardigan I picked wasn't quite right, either, so I was considering one of the other ones I had.

But then this happened...

I got sick! Really bad allergies that seemed to be trying to morph into something sinusy/can't-really-breathe/use-all-the-tissues/better-lie-down. So I stopped caring whether I got the dress hemmed or not and just hoped I wouldn't be sneezing at church.

Then I got this cold sore under my nose about the size of Texas. Mmmhmm. And that's when I knew that I might have to look like that but I was definitely not going to take a picture of it!

So, Easter went well, the dress wasn't perfect but was far better than last year's (disaster avoided) and here's what it looked like...

So there you have it, the end of my "what will I wear for Easter?" extravaganza!! Have you had any dress-up disasters since last we talked? :)

Why am I proud of my son? Because I suggested that he only find a few eggs for himself and then help the younger kids and he did!
