True Autumn Neutrals

Warm Autumn or True Autumn, as it is called in some systems, including Color Alliance, is a season of medium contrast. So in preparing to build a capsule wardrobe with true autumn neutrals as its base, you want to keep in mind that none of your color combinations should create a high level of contrast.

You already know that black and white is not a good idea, but ivory and charcoal probably aren't, either. So avoid pairing lights with darks; instead, plan on light with medium or dark with medium.

Suggested Colors for a Warm or True Autumn Neutral Capsule Wardrobe

In any capsule wardrobe, carefully chosen core neutrals form the foundation blocks for your new wardrobe. When you have them in place, you can add and update each season by choosing warm fashion or accent colors that help you create entirely new looks.

There is No Black for a True or Warm Autumn

If you need a color similar to black for work, try charcoal or a light navy. But keep in mind that those are not necessarily the best support for your vibrant, warm coloring. So if you are going to wear them, combine them with warm colors and make sure to wear the warm colors near your face.

For transitioning to cooler fall weather, add warm sweaters or long-sleeved shirts in those same colors. There are richer, warmer colors available for your true autumn fall capsule wardrobe but there are always going to be neutrals available, too.
