Neutrals Week: Soft Autumn Neutrals

Neutrals for a Soft Autumn Wardrobe Capsule

Soft Autumn Neutrals

In any capsule wardrobe, carefully chosen core neutrals form the foundation blocks for your new wardrobe. When you have them in place, you can add and update each season by choosing warm fashion or accent colors that help you create entirely new looks.

"All your colors have a soft or muted appearance. A small amount of contrast may be used, but high contrast combining dark and light colors together will overpower you. A key to your look is to mix and match your neutrals." –Color Me Slimmer

Soft Autumn Neutrals

In the Polyvore example, you see the following colors as suggested neutrals for a soft autumn capsule wardrobe, but there are other similar colors you could choose, such as light brown, rose brown, tan, other soft grays.

Camel
Cocoa
Pewter
Charcoal

Soft Autumns Should Avoid Black

If you need a color similar to black for work, try pewter or charcoal. But whenever you wear them, combine them with soft, warm colors and make sure to wear those colors near your face.

You could actually create a whole wardrobe just using neutral colors and some soft autumns do. I encourage you to rely on them but not to stop there. It’s the start, not the finish to your capsule wardrobe.

But for now, let’s look at the possible color combinations you could make just with neutral colors this spring…

For a fall capsule wardrobe, you could warm up these outfits by adding cardigans, sweaters or jackets in similar colors.

Which colors might you add to your soft autumn capsule wardrobe? Let me know how it goes.

"When we find the set that enhances you above all the others, what we have really uncovered are the exact pigments already in your skin, in your body. When you then wear the colors you already are, you look like magic because your person and your attire is sending the same wavelength of energy to the viewer." ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

  3. I also prefer fall outfits over all the other seasons. I think "fall" can be interpreted in so many of the seasonal categories. Holding up my Light Summer swatches to those soft autumn colors, I was surprised that there is some similarity. Cooler, of course, but with a similar intensity. I love the LSu grays and beiges and cocoa browns for fall, and could really see swapping them in for the Soft Autumn colors you have shown. Those sets are really very elegant and I love the way you use clothes that can work for so many body types.
