Back to Homeschool: Fall Capsule Wardrobe Inspiration

Welcome to the first week of September!

When I was in high school, one of the most exciting months for me was August because two things would happen: Seventeen magazine would publish their back-to-school issue, and after I devoured it for inspiration, my mom and I would hit the mall, looking for a few good outfits for my next year of school. Motherhood does not have such an occasion.

But I borrow freely from my son! Around mid-summer, I start looking for new pants, shoes and shirts for him because he has almost always outgrown everything he owns. And I am aware, of course, that these choices need to be pretty spiffy because he will be wearing them to the homeschool ballroom dance class and whatever else we choose to do with the local homeschool group.

So I decided that I should get a few new things for each new homeschool year, myself. After all, I get to be chaffeur for all these activities. :)

And I thought you might like some inspiration, too, for your own fall capsule wardrobe. Not from Seventeen magazine, but from InStyle, or Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire and/or whatever else I can get my hands on this month. Including Pantone's color picks for fall...

"Who says grade schoolers should have all the fun when it comes to autumnal shopping? This year's back-to-school list includes strong silhouettes, statement jackets, and luxurious accessories that make saying goodbye to summer blissfully simple." ~~Elle's Fall Fashion Trends

"When we find the set that enhances you above all the others, what we have really uncovered are the exact pigments already in your skin, in your body. When you then wear the colors you already are, you look like magic because your person and your attire is sending the same wavelength of energy to the viewer." ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints
