July Goals: Christmas in July!

I was so right about the beastly heat of summer this month. We had to go to the grocery store the other day and it was 110 degrees inside the car! Yowza! But read ahead to see why I'll be dreaming of colder temps this weekend...

(1) Read & discuss Eat, Pray, Love with my friends Steve and Julie. Anyone else want to read (or re-read) along?

I've read a couple of chapters, so far, but need to get back to it. I love the writing, though! Really gorgeous.

(2) Finish reading The Answer is Simple, by Sonia Choquette, and write my thoughts about it in my journal.

I have been reading a little at a time so it has time to settle in as I read. I really love it, so far! I don't agree with everything she says, like her belief that the inner spirit is separate from us and will leave if we don't honor it. I would never leave myself! But I love her advice on recognizing and honoring the wise inner self.

(3) Spend an hour each afternoon hanging out with my son before we cook dinner together. This goal will mean I have to stop working earlier than I usually do.

Ack!!! I have not done so well at this, so I better get to it. I have been overworking a bit, and the good news is that I have most of this summer's blog posts taken care of, except for the 3 in 30 ones. But I'm working on it.

And there won't be anything I have to do this weekend, so maybe our Christmas-in-July movie marathon on the Hallmark channel will make up for it. I'm even planning to light some Christmas candles. :)

(4) Order planner and books for homeschooling. I really should start the planning process, too, but getting the books and planner in will help motivate me to do it next month. I hope!

Well, I ordered the planner but haven't ordered any of the homeschooling books yet. Maybe next week.

How did your week go?

    1. Thanks!! Well, I had a planner before and I did like it, though I used it slightly differently than it was labeled. Totally cannot wait for this weekend's July Christmas!

  2. A Christmas in July movie marathon sounds like a great way to beat the heat. We're having record-breaking temperatures here too - with heat indexes in the 100s. The highest was 118 which was terribly uncomfortable. You're doing a great job with your goals! Enjoyed reading what you thought about both of them so far.

  3. If you like these books you may be interested in Liloumace on You Tube. She interviewed Sonia. It was really good. And Tedx has an interview with Julie. It's on YT also.
    Have fun with these books.
Beautiful planner. It coordinates with your colors ;-)

    1. Sandy, those are great suggestions! I might have to look those up. Thanks! As soon as I saw the animal print, I knew that was the one for me. :)

  4. Christmas in July sounds amazing. I love the idea of lighting the Christmas candles and having the scent to go with the movies.

I watched the Eat, Pray, Love movie and enjoyed it however I am sure the book is 1000 times better.

Sounds like you are having a good summer so far.

    1. Hi Sherri! Yes, I am having a good summer. You? I watched the movie, too, and loved it. And then my friend, Steve, told me just what you suspect, that the book is even better, and I decided to read it. Off to light a candle or two...

    2. Thanks, Aurie!! I know, the heat is just so stifling. Better to see the summer prettiness through the window while reading a good book. :)
