Summer Heat!

In these pictures, I am wearing a new short-sleeved cardigan for the first time this summer. It matches my eyes and is probably going to be one of my best neutrals. It felt comfortable, and I liked the way it felt.

There's only one problem! I was SO HOT in it!!!

I only had a tank top on beneath it, and I even unbuttoned it to lessen the heat factor, but I still could hardly stand being outside in it. Of course, it was a super-hot day, but that's what summer is here.

So I may not end up wearing it as much as I had thought. It's probably better for spring or early fall days, when it's warm but not hot. I have ordered a bunch of tank tops and am just beginning to put summer outfits together, so we'll see what works and what doesn't.

What about you? How will you be beating the heat this summer?

I am linking up today with Nina from Momma Go Round for Real Momma, Real Style, if she does it this week, to Momtrends for this week's Monday Mingle and to Not Dead, Yet Style for Visible Monday. On Wednesday, I will link up with Lindsey at The Pleated Poppy for What I Wore Wednesday, Melaina at Transatlantic Blonde for What I Wore Wednesday and A Stylish Little Lady for Life Lately (if she has it this Wed.).

  1. The color of that cardigan is amazing on you. The jewelry looks really fun too.

    1. Ann, thanks! I am in love with that color!!! I will have to try to find a way to make it work with all this heat. Thanks, I like chunky jewelry, and hadn't worn those in a while, so I had myself a little reunion. :)

  2. I feel you, Jeanine - I love to layer, but it's so hot here in Florida. But I feel a bit naked in just a tank top. This cardigan is fabulous for you - thanks for sharing with Visible Monday!

    1. Hi Patti! Thanks!! Exactly, can't do just the tank top (although I did do just that while I was in the car) but I don't know about that cardi.

  3. Whoa, you're linking up a lot of places this week. It's a shame that the cardigan is too warm, the colors in this outfit are lovely on you.

  4. Hey Jeanine! I just saw your comment on Natasha Fatah's site and realized I hadn't been by to see you in a while! I hope all's well.

Yeah, I don't do well in tank tops or sleeveless, but the HEAT!!! I will often remove sleeves from one thrifted garment and sew them into a sleeveless one that is a complimentary color/fabric. I do most of the sewing myself, but occasionally I've taken the pieces to an alterations person.

I love that cardigan. I'm sure you'll wear it alot, maybe just not in the middle of summer.

  5. You look great, but I completely understand how you felt...being in South Texas we have heat and humidity off the charts...makes dressing not as much fun. But, the bright side is that you did such a nice job with your style!

    1. Thanks, Pam!! Yes, sometimes, that is the only bright side, LOL. Glad to know you understand!

  6. It is so hot here too. My jackets are really too warm to wear but I feel I have to cover up my arms and my stomach.
You certainly have found your color palette and it is just beautiful on you.

    1. Thanks, Debbi!! Well you certainly said it right about covering up the arms and stomach. The way we suffer for beauty! :)

    1. Thanks!! LOL, Melaina! It would only take a few days for your jealousy to come to a swift and brutal end. OTOH, a few days at your place might make me appreciate our weather once I got back home (for at least a day or two).
