My Favorite Colors

Can you believe all the DUST on the mirror??? My apologies! Try to ignore it, and be mesmerized, instead, by what happens to my eyes with this beautiful warm brown eyeshadow I'm wearing. I really love the entire makeup look from that day!

The eyeshadow is a warm spring color that matches my eyes, the blush is a soft autumn color and the lipstick is deep autumn. LOL! And I love all of it.

Yeah, the thing about my mirror is that it's right next to my window that is always cracked. Usually, I remember to dust it right before I start taking pics, but I must have forgotten this time.

These pics I took on a day that was slightly overcast, but with just enough glare that I had to pull the blinds down. So it looks a little dark. Fun outfit, though!

What have you worn lately that was fun?

Warm Autumn:“This woman never pretends. She won’t say something just to flatter you unless she believes it to be true. She cries harder than anyone at a funeral. She is fiercely loyal to her family but will not spare them hard work or spoil them with extravagance. She may seem to absorb a lot of demands but when she draws the line at enough, everyone knows it.” ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

Deep Autumn:"Sensible and straightforward as all Autumns, but direct in speech, and quick to absorb change with good evidence, they speak honestly and bluntly. What I love most, I believe, is that they are not one bit threatened or defensive about new ideas. The person may demonstrate more of Winter’s reserve, or more of Autumn’s passive and natural way, but there is always an element of fire." ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

  1. Hi Jeanine! I'm new to your blog and am not sure where to ask this question. I toggle between Deep Winter and Deep Autumn - mostly Winter during the cooler season when my skin is paler and Autumn during summer months when I tan. I like to keep a minimal wardrobe year-round and don't really want to have two separate sets of clothing for each color palette. Do you have tips and recommendations on how I can maximize my wardrobe and make it more versatile to fit both Autumn and Winter palettes?

    Thanks in advance!

    1. Hi Dien! I'm glad you found me. Well, you know, deep winter and deep autumn are sister seasons, so it would make sense that you would be able to wear colors from both seasons.

But tanned or not, one of them would be your true season and the best colors to choose overall, and which one it is would depend on whether your coloring is neutral warm or neutral cool. I would recommend creating a capsule wardrobe from whichever is your season and then possibly adding a few colors from the other season as accents.

  3. Is that dress in your last picture charcoal grey? I thought that grey was not a flattering color for warm autumns, albeit it's OK. Or maybe the scarf compensates for it? Thanks.

    1. Yep, you are right, lele, charcoal grey should be a neutral at best for autumns! And probably not worn as a dress. I did have a charcoal dress once that I wore once to a funeral. I quickly decided I looked like it was *my* funeral! That dress in the picture is a dark brown.
