Becoming Red-Carpet Ready for Spring

If you're feeling the energy of spring (and perhaps the warmer temps, as well) and are looking for ways to spruce up your wardrobe before spring fever takes over completely, here are a few things you can do.

(1) Throw It Out: As always, look through what you've got going on in your closet, and if you don't absolutely LOVE it, throw it out (or at least out it aside, for now).

(2) Try Something New: Try a new color in your color palette or a new silhouette you haven't worn before. I saw a picture of Meg Ryan in the March issue of In Style magazine wearing an outfit/look I'd like to try. It was a short, boxy jacket worn closed with tapered, harem-style pants. See my post from yesterday to see my interpretation of it.

Fashion magazines are a great place to go for inspiration, but look for the ones that road-test the new styles for real-world applicability.

(3) Try a Capsule of Four: Don't overwhelm yourself with a major overhaul. Just pick four pieces (perhaps you have one or more already?) that you can mix and match for work or casual outfits.

Warm Autumn:“This woman never pretends. She won’t say something just to flatter you unless she believes it to be true. She cries harder than anyone at a funeral. She is fiercely loyal to her family but will not spare them hard work or spoil them with extravagance. She may seem to absorb a lot of demands but when she draws the line at enough, everyone knows it.” ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

Deep Autumn:"Sensible and straightforward as all Autumns, but direct in speech, and quick to absorb change with good evidence, they speak honestly and bluntly. What I love most, I believe, is that they are not one bit threatened or defensive about new ideas. The person may demonstrate more of Winter’s reserve, or more of Autumn’s passive and natural way, but there is always an element of fire." ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

    1. Hey ClaireJustine! Thanks! Good for you!! So far, I have only gone through my closet mentally, but I am planning to get to it this weekend. It's already so warm here, I think it's safe to put away the winter clothes.
