Seasonal Color Analysis with The Help: Viola Davis

It's Black History Month: Seasonal Color Analysis for African-American Celebrities...

This week and probably part of next week, too, let's honor some of our prominent African-American celebrities by featuring them here and finding out what their seasons are. Since the Academy Awards are coming up, I thought I'd start with a couple of actresses from The Help.

Seasonal Color Analysis with the cast of "The Help"...

Though I didn't see the movie, I have seen snippets from it and have noticed how many awards it has won. As I was watching the awards shows, I got curious about what the seasons were for these women of color.

I decided to start with Viola Davis, who played Aibileen Clark in the movie.

Viola Davis: Deep Autumn...

My first thought was that she might be cool, and when Lora Alexander and I talked about her, that was her expectation as well. But then I saw some of the pictures she has taken in cool colors.

She is a beautiful woman, but I think she is definitely more neutral-warm than neutral-cool!

Deep Autumn Color Palette for Viola Davis...

These are all colors I pulled from her skin using color extraction. I tried to avoid her face for the most part, because I didn't need to know what color her foundation or blush was. :)

Do you notice that almost all of these colors can be found in the dot chart below?

Tomorrow: Octavia Spencer!

Warm Autumn:“This woman never pretends. She won’t say something just to flatter you unless she believes it to be true. She cries harder than anyone at a funeral. She is fiercely loyal to her family but will not spare them hard work or spoil them with extravagance. She may seem to absorb a lot of demands but when she draws the line at enough, everyone knows it.” ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

Deep Autumn:"Sensible and straightforward as all Autumns, but direct in speech, and quick to absorb change with good evidence, they speak honestly and bluntly. What I love most, I believe, is that they are not one bit threatened or defensive about new ideas. The person may demonstrate more of Winter’s reserve, or more of Autumn’s passive and natural way, but there is always an element of fire." ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

  1. She is such a beautiful woman! She looks radiant in that last picture! I also loved your Whitney Houston tribute the other day, btw! And your valentine's ensemble looked lovely on you! I have been so busy lately I haven't been able to get around and comment much! :D

    1. Hi B.! Thanks so much!! I'm glad you liked those posts. I agree that Viola Davis is really beautiful, and especially so in that last picture. And it's always good to see you but I know how what you mean about being "too busy!"
