What Are Your Style Words?

Great Books for Identifying Your Style Words...

I’ve read two really good books on defining personal style that I would heartily recommend: Style Statement: Live by Your Own Design and Growing More Beautiful an Artful Approach to Personal Style .

Using them both, I created and refined a set of style words that I think perfectly complement my warm autumn coloring. The process starts with identifying words for body type and personality, then matching them with style words and style descriptions.

The words I ended up with are: earthy, warm, natural, goddess-like, warmhearted, sensuous, deeply rooted, lush, and vibrant. So what I decided to do is pair those words with the recent color extraction I have done and create some style inspiration.

My Warm Autumn Coloring

These are some of the palettes that I created from pictures of my eyes and skin…

The Warm Autumn Color Palette

By the way, some of the colors also fit within the warm spring color palette, which makes sense for warm autumns...

Which style words might you choose? Notice which color palette comes to mind as you hear them in your mind and share that in the comments.

Warm Autumn:“This woman never pretends. She won’t say something just to flatter you unless she believes it to be true. She cries harder than anyone at a funeral. She is fiercely loyal to her family but will not spare them hard work or spoil them with extravagance. She may seem to absorb a lot of demands but when she draws the line at enough, everyone knows it.” ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

Deep Autumn:"Sensible and straightforward as all Autumns, but direct in speech, and quick to absorb change with good evidence, they speak honestly and bluntly. What I love most, I believe, is that they are not one bit threatened or defensive about new ideas. The person may demonstrate more of Winter’s reserve, or more of Autumn’s passive and natural way, but there is always an element of fire." ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints
