January Jumpstart & the Deep Autumn 30 for 30 Remix

How Did You Do with the January Jumpstart?...

Were you able to identify what worked and what didn't, choose your best colors and level of contrast, and create both a winter capsule wardrobe and a go-to uniform? I hope the month went well for you and you were able to get your year of style off to a good start!

My Warm and Deep Autumn Go-to Uniform...

While it wasn't the only thing I wore, I did find myself wearing this basic uniform quite a bit. Did you discover one, too, this month?

A Deep Autumn 30 for 30 Remix...

These are the 30 items I chose. Let me just confess right away that I did not wear them all. Nor did I get dressed 30 times this month! But I did enjoy creating different outfits and was glad to have the challenge of not wearing the exact same outfit twice.

The Deep Autumn Experiment...

My goal was to see what happened if I made an effort to wear only deep autumn colors, in outfits that had medium-high contrast. Along the way, I decided that I am warm autumn leaning deep, but I continued to play with the same group of clothes and with creating contrast.

I think the"leaning deep" part increases the need for contrast, but with warm colors. The deep autumn outfits were not quite flattering enough, frankly! I don't like what happened with my coloring. I liked most of the outfits. But there were some of them I didn't like on me.

Some did work, though, and I will continue wearing them. It's really a matter of knowing what's best and then, you can choose to wear the less wonderful outfits if you really like them. I say sometimes that I can be content with 75% instead of 100%. :)

But, in general, I will move the scale back to medium with regard to warmth, depth and contrast. I can get away with deep autumn, but clearly, it is not my best, because it isn't quite warm enough.

Warm Autumn:“This woman never pretends. She won’t say something just to flatter you unless she believes it to be true. She cries harder than anyone at a funeral. She is fiercely loyal to her family but will not spare them hard work or spoil them with extravagance. She may seem to absorb a lot of demands but when she draws the line at enough, everyone knows it.” ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

Deep Autumn:"Sensible and straightforward as all Autumns, but direct in speech, and quick to absorb change with good evidence, they speak honestly and bluntly. What I love most, I believe, is that they are not one bit threatened or defensive about new ideas. The person may demonstrate more of Winter’s reserve, or more of Autumn’s passive and natural way, but there is always an element of fire." ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints
