Wednesday's Warm Autumn Outfit: The Eyes Have It!

Seasonal Color Analysis Using Your Eyes...

One way to identify the right colors for you is to identify the colors in your eye. You can read more about that in Color Your Style, by David Zyla. I used that book to identify a lot of colors in my eye, hair and skin, and to verify that I am, indeed, a warm autumn. But I did not know all of these colors were in my eye until a friend of mine created this collage & found them for me.

Golden brown
Coffee brown
Espresso
Dark Olive

The olive came from the ring around my iris. Who knew?? So I thought it would be fun to create an outfit or two using these colors.

Six Items or Less Update: A New Warm Autumn Uniform

We've had just a few days, so far, during this Six Items or Less extravaganza, that were cool enough to wear my sweater dresses without roasting! So naturally, I took full advantage and in doing so, have discovered a "uniform" of sorts.

You'll notice a pattern in the warm autumn outfits pictured here and I really like wearing this combination. It's the old long-over-lean idea from the 90s.

What I Wore: The Leggings Edition

I've been participating in Real Momma, Real Style for months now and have been very encouraged by all of the women wearing leggings with their outfits. I had not done so for years and really was thinking I probably wouldn't do so again in this lifetime. And then I decided to try it!

As you may already know, I chose two dresses for my Six Items or Less capsule wardrobe and have been wearing the leggings with them. I love it!

3 in 30: November's Goals ~ How Did You Do?

(1) Revise my ebook, The Capsule Wardrobe Book: Signature Style Essentials for Plus Size Fashionistas. ...

I did it! I did it! I did it!!! I finished the revision and my ebook is once again for sale for $2.99...

(2) Kindness toward and acceptance of people in my life who cannot be, do or say what I think I need & know I want. ...

Well, this is still a struggle but there have been some moments this month when it really worked, when I was able to be kind, to feel compassion, and to have some level of acceptance. Definitely a work-in-progress, though!

(3) Evaluate my fall capsule wardrobe to make sure it can transition well into winter. ...

Doing well with this, and I have a pretty good winter wardrobe capsule standing at the ready now. Of course, I bought it for fall and it hasn't been cold enough but it doesn't really matter how I got it, right? :)

How did you do this month? Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

“Too often, the expression of passion through quiet is misjudged to be low, but that’s not so. Leave flash to someone else. Believe that others fully sense the extreme physicality of understated heat. We feel so grateful for the absence of force that we give more of ourselves back. Nothing rattles our cage, no visual element is aggressive, not a single one. We feel less guarded or inhibited, more open to reveal, more receptive to consider, more willing to play, I’m not using these words by accident. Soft Autumn is the most smoothly sensual Season.” ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints

Six Items or Less Update: Last-Minute Changes

Six Items or Less Dilemma...

Photobucket As you might remember from last week (or yesterday's post), we are having unseasonably warm weather and I got very concerned about my choices for Six Items or Less. I wore my green sweater twice and was hot & sticky & uncomfortable!

So I made the decision to get rid of it. I think that sweater and I are going to have to break up for a while.

Unfortunately, that means it will not be a part of my six and since I have already worn it, that breaks the rules. Cheating! But I had to do it.

Six Items or Less: The New Choices...

As soon as I made the decision to take a break from the sweater, I felt better. And I changed a couple of other things, too. I swapped out the green sweater for my yellow pullover that I knew I could count on to be comfy even in the heat.

And I picked an orange sweater I thought would be more comfortable than the dress I had chosen. I felt pretty happy with my six...

Six Items or Less: One More Revision...

Photobucket But then I took a second look at pictures of myself in both the orange sweater and the orange dress. I think maybe the orange dress would be better.

So at this point, I  have changed my mind again. But I haven't worn either one so stay tuned...

I will say this, though. Even for all the dilemmas and the unwelcome warm weather, it's great to connect with the other sixers and share in the stories of their experiences.

Which One Would You Choose?

Help Me Decide!

I spent most of the past week, the first one of the 30-day wardrobe challenge called Six Items or Less, worrying about how the unseasonably warm weather would affect my choices for the challenge.

Six Items or Less Dilemma

  Photobucket

I was too hot in my green sweater and debated about whether or not to replace it. I spent a couple of days going back and forth about that but finally made a decision. And we finally had a cooler day so I could wear my brown dress...

Photobucket

But now, I am wondering which orange pullover I should have in my six. The one that's actually a dress but can be worn as a shirt (like this brown one) or the one that's a sweater. The dress offers more versatility; the sweater wears fairly well on warmer days.

Which one would you choose?

Photobucket

I had basically chosen the sweater, but now that I see both pictures, am reconsidering the dress! What do you think?

3 in 30: November's Goals ~ Week Three

3in30 I'm In!! (1) Revise my ebook, The Capsule Wardrobe Book: Signature Style Essentials for Plus Size Fashionistas....

Because I am working on finishing my new ecourse for this blog, and I want ti done by Thanksgiving, I am not sure this goal will be done this month. It may carry over until next month.

But I did get a lot done on my ecourse!! It went live at the beginning of the week, and I have a couple of weeks worth of the course done. Just maybe five more to write? So I am feeling great about my progress toward that goal, even though it's not one of the official three!

(2) Kindness toward and acceptance of people in my life who cannot be, do or say what I think I need & know I want. ...

Oh boy, is this a tough one!!! I do well one day and the next, I'm blowing my top at someone's idiocy. Which is really hard if the someone is my mother, who I love, but sometimes don't like very much.

I'm working on it, though!

(3) Evaluate my fall capsule wardrobe to make sure it can transition well into winter....

When I decided on this goal, I had no idea I would be creating a capsule wardrobe for another round of Six Items or Less. The current cycle began earlier this week and I ended up choosing six items with which I can create 16 different outfits and it is perfect for winter!!

Not so perfect for the unseasonably warm weather we're having here right now, though! So I have had to adjust it a bit for this challenge, but I know I will have what I need when the cold weather comes.

How did you do this week?

For anyone I don't "see" until next Friday, have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Jeanine

Six Items or Less: Thinking about Cheating on My "Six!"

Six Items or Less: This May or May Not Be My Six...

Photobucket

For the second unseasonably warm and humid day in a row, I wore my green sweater again, this time with my new dark brown corduroy pants. Oddly enough, they were extremely comfortable, but this lightweight sweater made me feel sticky and sweaty!

Photobucket

Six Items or Less: Right Now, It's All about the Weather...

The low for today was in the 60s, if that tells you anything! And I have to say, I expected it to be cooler during this last half of November. So I am rethinking my six, and frankly, considering cheating!

I think I made a mistake when I chose that sweater. I wanted to have something green for December and thought I might wear it a time or two to church. But I also thought that it would still be comfortable even on days that were warmer than others.

That was my warm weather choice!!

But I see now that sweater material, no matter how light, is probably not a good idea in the heat. And my car is not air-conditioned and a few degrees warmer inside than out. Something else I didn’t consider!

Six Items or Less: With a Different Six?...

Now I wish I had chosen my yellow pullover! So I am not sure what I will do now. I could add it in and take out one of my other choices.

None of them will feel all that wonderful in the heat, either, but if it cools off, even a little, they each make an excellent part of my six. And the possibly of 16 outfits really appeals to me.

But will it get that cool? So that I could comfortably wear a sweater dress with a sweater? If not, maybe I need to add in another warm weather shirt.

Photobucket

What do you think I should do? I truly have not even begun to decide, but the way I feel today, I am not sure I ever want to wear that green sweater again.

So I may decide to swap out the green sweater for the yellow pullover, even though that is "cheating" because I have worn it already.

Six Items or Less: 6 Pieces, 16 Ways, One Month of Outfits

Six Items or Less: One Month of Warm Autumn Outfits...

As I was deciding, I realized that with this particular combination of six, I can create 16 different outfits. So technically, I won't have to wear anything more than twice.

But I am sure I will like some of them better than others! And there might even be some potential outfits I decide not to wear at all.

Especially with the upcoming weather forecasted for this area!

I think it's quite possible that I will have to leave the house and get back before noon, when it will still be cold enough to wear what I have chosen. I wore my green pullover today and was warm, and it's the lightest thing I have in my six. Oy!
