Are You a Warm Autumn? Seasonal Color Analysis for Women of Color

Warm Autumn Seasonal Color Analysis...

You might be a warm autumn if your coloring is warm...

(1) Your natural hair color is reddish brown or has reddish undertones. Or if you are a women of color, your hair might be dark brown, charcoal brown or brown-black.

(2) You have golden or terracotta undertones in your skin.

(3) You have a warm eye color like amber, topaz or golden brown.

Variations on the Warm Autumn Theme...

As you know if you've been following along on my journey (and thanks, so much, if you have), I have landed on warm autumn even though I am not entirely warm. My suspicion is that women of color who would normally be analyzed as soft autumn or deep autumns might need the warmer end of the spectrum and thus, can wear warm autumn colors.

Either that, or we need additional categories for seasonal blends like soft-and-warm or deep-and-warm that fall in between the regular designations.

There is a system (because I went looking for them) that does include women of color in a sort of "warm autumn" category, but in this system, Uniquely You, by Betty Nethery, she calls the category "bright autumn"...

This is comparable to a "clear" category in the normal 12-season color analysis systems but also bears some similarity to deep autumn (and she doesn't have a "deep" category).

So if your skin or hair or eyes are warm but they aren't all warm, you may still need warm autumn )or bright autumn) colors. To drape yourself, compare peach, pumpkin and red-orange or light moss, olive green and dark olive to see which eliminates shadows and lines and gives you the best color support.

Warm Autumn:“This woman never pretends. She won’t say something just to flatter you unless she believes it to be true. She cries harder than anyone at a funeral. She is fiercely loyal to her family but will not spare them hard work or spoil them with extravagance. She may seem to absorb a lot of demands but when she draws the line at enough, everyone knows it.” ~~Christine Scaman, 12 Blueprints
